Deco Clarifies Barcelona's Position on Winter Signings
Saturday 08-11-2025
Deco, the director of football at FC Barcelona, confirmed during an open session for fans at Spotify Camp Nou, that the team does not plan to sign new players in the upcoming winter transfer window unless any surprises affect the squad, emphasizing continued confidence in coach Hans Flick's plan.

Deco said: "If we are fine and there are no surprises, I think there is no need for that."

He added: "We know exactly where we can improve and the difficulties we face; last season we also went through tough times and managed to overcome them."

Deco addressed the current state of the team in La Liga and the Champions League: "When we lower the intensity of our performance, we suffer; we need our best players to be ready, no excuses, but when you can't make changes due to injuries, and the midfield is affected, there is always room for improvement even when winning."

He emphasized the difficulty of second seasons but stressed the coach's plan: "I really liked what Frenkie de Jong said; what we did last season was amazing, but we have to look ahead; if we start comparing, we make a mistake."

Deco concluded his statements by reaffirming confidence in the team's coach: "The only thing that cannot be discussed is the idea of a coach who has won and brought us joy; at Barcelona, we are sometimes very strict, and sometimes we shouldn't let ourselves be affected."

Deco's statements reflect Barcelona's current policy, which focuses on team stability and recovering injured players rather than seeking new signings in January, affirming that the coach's philosophy and past successes are appreciated and agreed upon within the club.
