Officially.. Al Ahly Appeals to CAF After Gradisar's Red Card

Sunday 26-10-2025
Al Ahly SC of Egypt has submitted an official complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), protesting the refereeing decisions made by Senegalese referee Issa Sy during the team's match against Burundi's Étoile du Sud in the African Champions League.

The club requested in its complaint the cancellation of the suspension of Slovenian player Nejc Gradisar, relying on video footage that supports its position and proves the decision's invalidity.

Al Ahly officials clarified in their evidence-backed appeal that the Senegalese referee's decision to suspend the player is not based on any correct incident, but rather a mistaken judgment that directly affected the course of the match. Al Ahly hopes that CAF will consider its appeal seriously to restore justice for its player and the club.

This official move by Al Ahly comes after the team's qualification to the group stage, as it seeks to remove any obstacles that may affect its progress in the tournament, especially after being forced to continue the match with ten players following Gradisar's red card.
