Laporta: We are the only guarantee that Barcelona will not turn into a joint-stock company
Joan Laporta opened the club's general assembly with an enthusiastic speech in defense of his management model, confirming that his board is the only guarantee of the club's social ownership and the ownership of its members.
In his statements during the assembly, Laporta said: "This board that I head is the guarantee that the club will always remain owned by its members; we are indeed the only guarantee against those who talk about management and consider Barcelona just a company, those know-it-alls and little teachers who give lessons, beware and stay away."
He added: "Barcelona is more than just a company; it is an institution with a role in the world and in Catalonia. The institution has a social and sports dimension, and it has a foundation that develops social programs. Of course, there is a need for effective management, but the club is not just a commercial entity; Barcelona is a Catalan institution open to the world, committed to justice, democracy, and freedoms, as well as to Catalonia and its culture and language. That is why we are more than just a club; the love for Barcelona means defending it against anyone who tries to shake it or control it, and defending it with a winning mentality."
Regarding the importance of unity and team spirit, Laporta said: "I ask that we stay united alongside Barcelona; we must believe until the end. Yesterday, Hans Flick placed Araújo as a striker, and in the end, he scored a goal that put us on top; this is the spirit I want."
Laporta addressed the current state of the club: "You can use any indicators you want, and you will reach the conclusion that we are better than we were four years ago. Regardless of how you look at it, it is clear that we are much better than four and a half years ago, and those who do not want to see, there is a saying: there is no one more blind than the one who does not want to see."
The president emphasized the strength of the club and its determination to recover: "We did not pay attention to catastrophic predictions and extreme claims; they did not exist and will not exist because we worked hard. Loving Barcelona means defending it against everything and everyone; we feel stronger and more determined than ever to complete the club's recovery process.
