Ateef: I am still committed to Al-Ahli and the talk of magic is just words
The experienced midfielder Abdullah Ateef revealed that he is still committed to Al-Ahli Club despite being excluded from the football team’s list for the current season.
It is worth mentioning that Abdullah Ateef joined Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023 in a free transfer after the end of his career with Al-Hilal, but he did not participate in matches due to a serious knee injury.
Ateef said in a statement on MBC channel: "My contract is still valid with Al-Ahli, but my name has been dropped from the list."
He continued: "I was injured at the beginning of my season with Al-Ahli and I was not lucky; I wanted to present something to the club, but luck was not on my side."
He added: "I chose Al-Ahli's offer over Al-Shabab; it is a big and professional club, and they certainly would not sign a player who is injured, and I underwent comprehensive fitness and physical tests."
He concluded: "Some people contacted me and told me that I was afflicted by envy or magic, but this is just talk, and my faith in God is strong."
The former Al-Hilal star ended by saying: "There is a 99% chance that I will conclude my football career after my contract with Al-Ahli ends."
