Barcelona Continues to Stir Controversy Before Valencia Match

Wednesday 10-09-2025
Barcelona announced, just five days before the scheduled match against Valencia next Sunday, that the game will be held at Johan Cruyff Stadium instead of Camp Nou, due to not yet obtaining the necessary permits to use the main stadium.

This decision sparked widespread outrage among Valencia fans, who felt that the announcement came too late and infringed on their rights.

According to reports, Johan Cruyff Stadium can only accommodate about 6,000 fans, which initially led Barcelona to allocate tickets only to its supporters, excluding Valencia fans, while some VIP tickets were offered starting at 600 euros, further intensifying the controversy.

Under pressure from criticism, especially from the Valencia supporters' association, the Catalan club backtracked and decided to allocate 290 tickets for Valencia fans, which is about 5% of the stadium's total capacity. Nevertheless, this number remains below the minimum agreed upon in the 'visiting fans' protocol established by La Liga, which requires clubs to provide 300 tickets at a maximum price of 30 euros per ticket.

It is worth noting that most clubs in La Liga adhere to this agreement, except for Real Madrid, Villarreal, Espanyol, and Rayo Vallecano, who chose to withdraw from it.
