In statements following the match between Barcelona and Real Mallorca in the opening of the 2025/2026 Spanish league season, coach Hans Flick expressed his dissatisfaction with his team's performance despite winning three goals to nil.

Flick said: "I did not like the performance today, the three points are important but the way we played did not please me. After leading 2-0 and Mallorca receiving two red cards, I felt that the team played at only 50%, which is unacceptable. We can perform much better than this."

He added about the state of relaxation that affected his players: "I do not like them to relax; we should have controlled the ball and continued to pressure the opponent. We need to score more goals. Playing at 50 or 60% against a fully equipped team is not acceptable."

Flick commented on the controversial referee decisions, saying: "I told the players to continue playing until the referee blows the final whistle. These are refereeing decisions that must be accepted."

Regarding Lamine Yamal, he said: "The most important thing is that he plays at this high level. He is a special player, and everyone appreciates him. What I see is his great enthusiasm; he is always ready to give his best. Everyone sees that he is exceptional."

About Eric Garcia, he added: "He played very well in the preseason and deserved to play. We have excellent players in all positions. We talked and decided to include him, and he also performed wonderfully at the end of last season. Koundé is also in good shape."

Regarding Jofre Torents, he continued: "I am happy to have him; they are all good, performing well. I appreciate his quality; it hasn't been easy for him to play; there weren't enough spaces."
