Media: The Attack on El-Shennawy was Unjust
Media figure Amir Hisham confirmed that the attack on Mohamed El-Shennawy, Al Ahly's goalkeeper, following the Petrojet match was strange and unjust.
The friendly match between Al Ahly and Petrojet, held last Sunday, ended in a 2-2 draw.
Hisham stated on the program "Plus 90" on Al-Nahar channel: "We asked some of our sources within Petrojet Club, and everyone confirmed that El-Shennawy saved Al Ahly from a certain defeat."
He added: "El-Shennawy had nothing to do with the first goal, the mistake was by one of his teammates, and the second goal was from a penalty for Petrojet, and the goalkeeper made no mistakes at all in yesterday's match."
He continued: "El-Shennawy saved one-on-one situations from Petrojet players three times, and he is not responsible at all for any goals that entered Al Ahly's net as some claim, and he performed wonderfully while facing unjust criticism."
He added: "El-Shennawy saved several goals from Petrojet, and despite those chances, had they entered Al Ahly's net, the goalkeeper would bear no blame."
He clarified: "Tawfik Mohamed, the left-back of Petrojet, was the best player in the match after Mohamed El-Shennawy, and I see that there is an exaggeration in the criticism, especially when it comes to a match that was not televised, and we were surprised by a lot of noise on social media and an unjustified attack.
