Spanish media reports have revealed that FC Barcelona is nearing an agreement to renew the contract of their French defender Jules Koundé, based on a direct recommendation from head coach Hans Flick, who has shown significant confidence in his performance, especially after his standout role as a right-back last season.

Despite some disagreements between the two parties, notably Koundé's repeated lateness to training, Flick values the high technical level that Koundé brings to the team, who has also rejected offers from the English Premier League, most notably from Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.

According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Barcelona has reached an agreement with Koundé to extend his contract until 2030, but the official announcement has been delayed due to the club's focus on finalizing the loan deal for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

The French player, who joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022, participated in 53 matches last season and scored a crucial goal against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, contributing to the team's victory in the tournament.

A formal ceremony to sign the new contract is expected to take place in the coming days, with the presence of president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco.
