Tuesday 08-07-2025
Naft Maysan Club officially announced the departure of coach Hussein Abdul Wahid from leading the team, after finishing the last football season in the eleventh place in the Iraqi Stars League, in a journey filled with challenges and varying moments.

The young coach, who took over in difficult circumstances, succeeded despite the obstacles in keeping the team in a safe zone, away from relegation struggles, and presented promising young faces that contributed to enhancing the technical stability of the club during various stages of the season.

Abdul Wahid, who enjoys great respect in the Iraqi football community, led the team with a fighting spirit, and was able to create a clear identity despite the limited resources compared to some competing teams, which made his departure today meet with mixed reactions among the fans of "Naft Al-Janoub".

In an official statement, the management of Naft Maysan Club thanked the coach for his efforts and commitment during his tenure, wishing him success in his next coaching stop, which has not yet been officially determined.

On another note, close sources indicate that Abdul Wahid received several calls from clubs in the Iraqi Stars League considering benefiting from his technical services for the new season, while no official comment has been issued by the coach so far regarding his next destination.

The departure of Hussein Abdul Wahid opens a new chapter for Naft Maysan, which is also seeking to contract with a coach who continues the technical building and leads the team towards more advanced positions in the upcoming season, amidst increasing competition and a long list of anticipated changes at the level of coaching staff in the league.
