Basem Qassem: We aim to win against Naft Maysan and this is our goal

Al-Zawraa are set to host Naft Maysan tomorrow, Tuesday, at their stadium in the third round of the Iraq Stars League, in a match where the 'Nawaris' are looking for their first victory of the season.

The head coach of Al-Zawraa, Basim Qasim, held a brief press conference before the match and said:

"Our preparations have been intensive over the past two days. We lost important points in the last two rounds and there is no room to drop any more points, especially as we are playing at home and in front of our fans."

He added: "The Al-Zawraa fans are expected to come out in force to support the team, and this gives us an added responsibility. We talked to the players about the need to close down spaces against Naft Maysan and to take advantage of the opportunities that will come our way."

Qasim stated: "The return of some players and the completion of the squad has given us more options, and we want to see Al-Zawraa's true character tomorrow on the pitch."

For his part, Al-Zawraa midfielder Hussein Fallah said:

"Everyone knows our situation, we started the league below expectations. But we have turned the page on the past and are focusing only on tomorrow's match."

He added: "We promise the fans of the seagulls that we will fight for every ball to make them happy. We need their support because the home advantage and the crowd will be decisive in the match."

He concluded: "The quality of the names in the team and the factor of experience must translate on the pitch. Our goal is clear: to achieve victory and the three points only."
