Three reasons why Al Zawraa triumphed over Naft Maysan

Al Zawraa secured a convincing 4-0 victory over their visitors Naft Maysan in the third round of the Iraq Stars League, erasing the lackluster image they displayed in the first two rounds.

The victory did not come from nowhere, but was the result of three factors that came together at the right time and brought Al Zawraa back to winning ways.

Al Zawraa's stadium was more than just a green pitch today; it was the 12th man.

From the warm-up moments to the final whistle, the Al Zawraa fans stood behind their team and pushed the players forward. The continuous chants provided a huge morale boost and made the Naft Maysan players feel the pressure from the very first minute.

Playing at home and among your fans in the Iraq Stars League makes a significant difference, and this is what Al Zawraa benefited from in the best way. The four goals came amid continuous support, and controlling the flow of the game was a result of the confidence that the presence of the fans gave to the players. In short, Al Zawraa played with two hearts: 11 players on the pitch and thousands in the stands.

The most notable aspect of Al Zawraa's performance today was not just individual skill, but the spirit.

After a draw and a loss in the first two rounds, the players approached the match as if it were a final. The desire was evident in every challenge, in every press on the ball carrier, and in every attempt to reach the goal.

This desire was translated into goals. Luay Al-Ani missed a penalty but came back to score, while Mohammed Qassim, Hiran Ahmed, and Youssef Aziz completed the task. The team did not settle for one or two goals, but continued to search for a fourth until the 70th minute.

This mentality is what Al Zawraa had been lacking in the last two rounds. When the team plays with a "ferocity to win" and every player feels responsible, the natural result is a four-goal haul and a convincing performance.

Al Zawraa entered this match carrying more than 3 points. They bore the responsibility of reconciling with their fans, who are accustomed to competing for the title.

The early stumble generated a sense of anxiety and anger in Al Zawraa's street. Therefore, today's victory was seen as a 'course correction' before things got worse. The coaching staff and players realized that any result other than a win would increase the pressure on them, so the match was an opportunity to regain confidence.

Al Zawraa's four-goal haul today not only earned them 5 points, but also provided a morale boost and confidence needed ahead of upcoming challenges. The return to winning ways at their home ground with a great performance is the message the "Nawaris" wanted to convey: we are back on the right track, and what happened in the last two rounds was just a blip.
