Officially.. UEFA announces financial penalty for Barcelona
The European Football Association (UEFA) announced in an official statement today, Friday, that it has fined the Spanish club Barcelona due to its failure to comply with financial fair play regulations.
UEFA confirmed in its statement that Barcelona has been fined 15 million euros due to its financial violations, while noting that it will be obligated to pay an additional amount of up to 45 million euros if the same violations occur in the future.
UEFA also stated that if such financial violations are repeated, restrictions may be imposed on player registrations in the Champions League.
This penalty represents another strong blow to the Catalan club, which has faced economic pressures in recent years, amidst attempts to restore financial balance without harming competitive sports.
It is worth mentioning that Barcelona failed to sign Nico Williams, the star of Athletic Bilbao, due to its inability to provide the player with guarantees for his registration in the upcoming season, before the Basque club announced the renewal of the player's contract.
