Former Al-Ahly Star: The Absence of Imam Ashour Was Impactful

Sherif Abdel Fadil, the former Al-Ahly star, confirmed that the absence of Imam Ashour, the star of the Red team, in the match against Palmeiras was very impactful.

Al-Ahly lost to Palmeiras 2-0 in a match within the Club World Cup, during which Imam Ashour was absent due to an injury sustained in the first round match against the American team Inter Miami.

Abdel Fadil stated on the program "Ya Masaa Al-Anwar" on MBC Masr 2: "The absence of Imam Ashour in the match against Palmeiras was very influential, as he represents 60% of Al-Ahly's attacking strength, and his absence was clearly reflected in the team's performance."

He added: "Al-Ahly does not suffer from a flaw in just one line, but rather from a general imbalance within the team, especially in the second half of matches, where noticeable physical decline appears despite good possession and strong performance in the first half."

He continued: "The coach is still new to the team, and the initial impression shows a lack of harmony, which is natural at this stage."

Sherif Abdel Fadil also spoke about the impact of weather conditions, saying: "The humidity was very high during the match, and it was necessary to make substitutions between the halves to maintain the good physical level that the team showed in the first 45 minutes."
