Barcelona submitted a historic request to La Liga to reconsider accounting for the expenses of the women's team, youth teams, and various sports within the financial fair play rules, separating them from the first team's budget.

Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that La Liga is currently considering approving this request after lengthy negotiations with Barcelona's management, which seeks to alleviate the financial burdens on the club and enhance its ability to sign new players.

Barcelona has been suffering since the summer of 2020 from financial fair play restrictions that hinder its contracts, especially after the club's revenues were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and renovation works at Camp Nou, as well as the team's move to Montjuïc.

Previously, La Liga accounted for the budgets of the women's and youth teams within the club's financial limits, which increased the financial pressure on Barcelona. The club hopes that separating these budgets will ease financial constraints, thereby strengthening its economic position in the coming years.
