The Spanish José Ribeiro expressed his happiness in leading Al Ahly in the Club World Cup.

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper "AS", Ribeiro said: "I am participating in the Club World Cup and no one knows me... This is not my fault (laughing)" referring to the beginning of his coaching career away from European spotlight.

Ribeiro added: "I started my journey at the Celta Vigo academy for the under-18s, then I moved to work in Finland, and after that, I took over the coaching of Orlando Pirates in South Africa, where I achieved 5 titles and reached the semi-finals of the African Champions League this year."

Ribeiro indicated that he received several offers from African clubs but preferred Al Ahly.

The Spanish coach described Al Ahly as "the most decorated club in the world", emphasizing that its 120-year history makes it not only the most important club in Africa but in the entire Middle East, especially due to its massive fan base.
