Barcelona's Plan to Get Rid of Ter Stegen
Saturday 07-06-2025
It seems that the future of German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen with Barcelona is at stake, as the Catalan club is close to signing Juan Garcia, the Espanyol goalkeeper, during the summer transfer window.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", Barcelona has reached a near-final agreement to sign Juan Garcia for 25 million euros, with an announcement of the deal expected in the coming days. This has led the club's management to consider parting ways with Ter Stegen, especially given the difficulty of relying on three goalkeepers in the squad.

The newspaper confirmed that Laporta's management has devised a plan to negotiate with the German goalkeeper after the conclusion of his participation with the German national team, intending to offer him the full salary for the next season in exchange for terminating the contract, which ends in the summer of 2028.

Media reports have indicated that Barcelona intends to rely on Juan Garcia as the starting goalkeeper, with Szczęsny as a substitute.

It is worth noting that Stegen is considering participating in the 2026 World Cup, which drives him to seek an opportunity to play regularly to maintain his position in the German national team under Nagelsmann, something that Barcelona's management is well aware of while crafting their offer for his departure.
