Lewandowski: The La Liga title is more important than the Pichichi, and it was an ideal season
Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski appeared in press statements after the victory over Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the last round of La Liga at San Mamés Stadium.
The player said in his remarks: "Losing the Pichichi award? The most important thing was winning the league. After my recent injury, I needed some time to return, and that is natural. I believe we, as a team, won the title, and for me, that is the most important thing."
He added: "It was the last match of the season, and we had a plan to win. I think we played very well in the first half; we were controlling everything. This season was almost perfect."
He concluded regarding the tribute to De Marcos, the Bilbao player, as he played his last match before retiring: "It’s a moment that every player will go through; he has to enjoy the tribute. Every player wants to give 100% of their level, and I think this was a very good moment for him."
