Officially: Dan Burn Extends Contract with Newcastle Until 2027
Saturday 24-05-2025
Newcastle United has announced the renewal of its international defender Dan Burn's contract for an additional year, allowing him to stay at St. James' Park until the summer of 2027.

Burn had an outstanding season with Newcastle, playing a crucial role in the team's first major domestic title in 70 years, scoring the opening goal and being awarded Man of the Match in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

The 33-year-old player participated in 45 matches across all competitions this season, missing only one game in the Premier League, and his performance caught the attention of the new England national team manager, Thomas Tuchel, who gave him his first international cap last March against Albania in the World Cup qualifying matches.

After signing the contract, Burn said: "I am very happy to renew my contract; I knew I was entering my last year, and I wanted to secure my future. I have said before that I would like to finish my career here, and I am grateful for this opportunity."

He added: "I still feel that I am improving and have not reached my peak yet, and I hope we continue to build on this wonderful season. Playing for this club is a dream come true for me."

On his part, coach Eddie Howe said: "Dan had an amazing season and was a key element in our standout moments. He deserves to be with the national team, and he is a leader who embodies the commitment and discipline we want in the team."
