Officially: Barcelona Announces Extension of Hans Flick's Contract
The Spanish club Barcelona has officially announced the extension of the contract of German head coach Hans Flick until the summer of 2027, following a successful season in which he led the team to win all domestic championships.
Flick took over as Barcelona's coach at the beginning of the current season, succeeding Xavi Hernandez, who was dismissed after a disappointing season that ended without titles.
The German coach successfully led Barcelona to win the Spanish league two rounds before the end, in addition to winning the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, at the expense of their traditional rivals Real Madrid, in a season where the Blaugrana excelled in four Clásico matches.
Flick's role was not limited to winning titles; he also contributed to the development of several stars of the team, most notably Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, while Robert Lewandowski regained his usual level under his leadership.
The Catalan club stated on its official website that an agreement was reached with Flick to extend the contract for an additional year, noting that his current contract was set to expire in 2026, and the 60-year-old coach insisted on the short extension according to his preferred policy.
