Monday 12-05-2025
Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny revealed that he received an official offer from FC Barcelona to extend his contract for an additional two years, noting that the final decision regarding his future has not been made yet, and he will return to consult with his family in the coming days.

Szczęsny said: "I do not deny that Barcelona offered me a two-year contract extension, but I have not made a decision yet, there are matters to discuss with my family, especially my wife, who I always involve in these crucial decisions."

He added: "At home, my wife makes most of the decisions, and I am not ashamed to admit that, as for football-related matters, I usually decide them alone, but this time the situation is different, as we had planned to come here for just one year to achieve a certain dream, then return to our normal lives."

He continued: "I will make the final decision in the coming weeks, and there are logistical matters that need to be taken into account, such as schools and relocation, so I want to think calmly before responding."

Regarding his feelings after winning the Clasico, he said: "After the match, I couldn't hold back my tears, winning against Real Madrid while wearing Barcelona's jersey is an indescribable feeling, and I am happy to contribute to a victory that brings the team closer to the La Liga title."

Szczęsny, who joined Barcelona to compensate for the absence of Ter Stegen, quickly proved himself and achieved impressive numbers, having played 29 matches, secured 23 victories, and had 13 clean sheets, which prompted the club's management and the coaching staff, led by Hans Flick, to request his continuation for two more seasons.
