Barcelona is close to renewing the contract of its German coach Hans Flick until the summer of 2027, according to Spanish media reports revealed today, Thursday.

Flick's agent, Pini Zahavi, is expected to arrive in Barcelona in the coming days to attend the El Clasico against Real Madrid, as well as to finalize the renewal agreement with the Catalan club's management.

Flick's current contract runs until 2026, but Barcelona's management is keen to ensure his continuity for an additional season, given their complete confidence in his work despite the elimination from the Champions League.

For his part, Flick prefers not to have long contracts and is keen to sign a short-term deal that allows him the freedom to make future decisions, especially as he approaches the age of 60.

The official announcement of the extension is expected to be postponed until after the end of the current season, in respect of the full focus on the remaining crucial matches in La Liga.
