Sundowns Coach: We Can Qualify in Cairo
Portuguese Miguel Cardoso, coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, spoke about his team's draw against Al Ahly.
The match between Al Ahly and Sundowns in the first leg of the African Champions League semi-finals ended in a goalless draw 0-0.
Cardoso confirmed in statements to SABC that his team can secure qualification in Cairo.
He added: "It is important to understand that not conceding goals is always crucial in this type of match."
He noted: "Scoring is also important; we played better in the first half, and we had some chances, but Al Ahly played defensively and closed the spaces with 6 players in defense."
He continued: "We tried different playing styles and looked for spaces; we knew the match would come down to two or three chances, and we had to score from them."
He concluded: "We didn't score, but we are still alive; we are fighting, and I believe we can finish the job there in Cairo."
