German defender Mats Hummels, player of AS Roma, announced his retirement from football at the end of the current season through a video posted on his official account on the social media platform 'X'.
Hummels joined Roma in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer after leaving Borussia Dortmund, and he has played 12 matches in Serie A this season without scoring or assisting any goals.
In the video, Hummels showcased the highlights of his 18-year career, during which he played for Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Roma, in addition to representing the German national team.
He commented on the video, saying: "It's the end, what a journey, thank you all."
