De Roon: Gasperini is a unique coach and we need to improve defensively

Marten de Roon, a player for AS Roma, spoke about the anticipated encounter against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League, praising head coach Gian Piero Gasperini and the tactical style he has implemented with the team since taking charge.

De Roon said during the press conference: "The coach is unique, and his tactical training methods surpass anyone else. It is fast-paced football, aimed at scoring a lot of goals and playing at the highest intensity, and that is what has always made his teams extremely strong."

The AS Roma player spoke about regaining his physical condition and rhythm in recent times, saying: "I needed to regain my rhythm and physical state, and we worked on addressing that during the break. The coaching staff and my teammates welcomed me wonderfully, and I knew I was still able to contribute, and I am happy with the way things are going."

Regarding his relationship with AS Roma fans and whether he has managed to regain their trust, he explained: "I am on the right path, and performance on the pitch is what matters most. It was nice to hear the applause from the fans when I left the pitch against Cagliari, as the facts always reveal what a player deserves."

De Roon concluded his remarks by addressing the team's development and attacking style, saying: "We were a bit immature in some situations, but we are improving. Our style of play offers entertaining football, as we try to score continuously without resorting to retreating and closing spaces, but we need to defend better at certain moments."
