Manchester Evening News highlighted Michael Carrick's reaction after Manchester United's thrilling 3-2 victory over AS Roma, having come back from two goals down in a crazy match at Old Trafford, in the UEFA Champions League.

The newspaper noted that Carrick seemed the most calm and composed amid the turbulent atmosphere surrounding the match, as the stands witnessed fan protests against the Glazer family, with green and gold balloons being released, alongside tennis balls thrown onto the pitch in the 20th minute and 5 seconds, in reference to the year 2005 when the family took over the club.

On the pitch, Manchester United experienced a disastrous start, as they conceded two goals within the first 18 minutes, amid criticism of the tactical approach adopted by Carrick, especially with Diogo Dalot pushing into attacking positions and leaving large spaces on the left side, which AS Roma exploited to reach the hosts' goal.

Manchester United's struggles deepened at the start of the second half as Carlos Baleba suffered a thigh muscle injury while driving the ball towards goal. The tide of the match changed after the English side was awarded a penalty, from which Bruno Fernandes scored to reduce the deficit after the kick was retaken due to AS Roma players encroaching into the area.

Matheus Cunha then made a decisive appearance, scoring the equaliser in the 83rd minute after capitalising on a cross from Shea Lacey following a defensive error, before unleashing a powerful shot three minutes later that gave Manchester United the winning goal, completing the team's remarkable comeback.

In the closing minutes, Matheus Cunha was sent off during stoppage time after appearing in a state of great agitation, but Michael Carrick quickly intervened and asked him to leave the pitch, an action that the newspaper considered evidence of the coach's calmness and focus despite the charged atmosphere.

The report noted that Carrick did not rush to celebrate the goals, spending time after the winning goal in a tactical discussion with his assistant Steve Holland, in a scene that reflected his focus on managing the match until the end, granting him a valuable victory and a moment to catch his breath amid the pressures surrounding his future.
