Historic collapse for AS Roma as they repeat falling after leading by two goals in the UEFA Champions League
AS Roma set a new negative record in their UEFA Champions League history after losing to Manchester United 3-2, despite leading 2-0 in the match held at Old Trafford.
According to the statistics, this is the third time in the history of the Italian club that they have lost a UEFA Champions League match after leading by two goals, but notably, two of these instances have occurred during the current season.
AS Roma have faced a similar situation against Real Madrid, before the same scenario repeated against Manchester United, as the team squandered their lead in two European matches during the same season.
The loss at Old Trafford was painful, as AS Roma took the lead with two goals from Mattia Solé and Donyell Malen. Manchester United rallied in the second half, with Bruno Fernandes reducing the deficit, but Matheus Cunha scored two goals in the 83rd and 86th minutes to lead his team to a thrilling victory.
