La Liga Shocks Barcelona with Official Statement
La Liga has issued an official statement, announcing that FC Barcelona has violated financial fair play regulations, and the wage bill at the Catalan club has been reduced.
Barcelona had conducted a sale of VIP seats for 100 million euros, which was submitted to La Liga, along with a financial auditor's certificate appointed on December 31, confirming the validity of the transaction.
La Liga mentioned that based on this transaction, the salary cap at the club increased on January 3, 2025, allowing them to register new players.
La Liga indicated that on February 14, they requested an independent investigation from the Higher Sports Council regarding the transaction made by Barcelona, but the Higher Sports Council did not respond to La Liga's request.
La Liga clarified that last March, Barcelona submitted new financial data signed by a different auditor, but this data did not include the sale of VIP seats for the new Camp Nou stadium.
La Liga explained that the sale of the seats was not reflected in the club's financial accounts, which led to a reduction in the salary cap, causing Barcelona to fail in registering Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
La Liga concluded that they would file an official complaint against the first auditor who approved the VIP seat sale.
It is worth mentioning that the Higher Sports Council provisionally registered Dani Olmo and Pau Victor until the case is resolved in the coming days.
