Spanish Football Federation Rejects Barcelona's Appeal Regarding Osasuna Match Date
The Spanish Football Federation has rejected the appeal submitted by Barcelona and Osasuna to postpone their rescheduled match from round 27, confirming that it will be held on its designated date of March 27 at the Montjuïc Stadium.
The match had previously been postponed due to the death of Barcelona's doctor, while the Catalan club sought to adjust the date due to the return of Raphinha and Araújo from international commitments just two days before the match, which could affect their readiness. Additionally, Fermín López, Pablo Torre, Gerard Martín, and Héctor Fort will join the team after participating with Spain's youth national teams, which may increase their fatigue.
As for Osasuna, they rejected the scheduled date due to the necessity of playing three consecutive away matches in a short period, which could impact their preparations.
Despite both clubs proposing to postpone the match to May 21, the Spanish Football Federation denied the request, citing a similar case in the 2016/2017 season when the match between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo was postponed, and reaffirmed its adherence to regulations, which do not consider international absences as a reason for postponing matches.
Based on this decision, Barcelona will face Girona on March 30, just 72 hours after the Osasuna match, while Osasuna will play against Athletic Bilbao on March 31, increasing the match pressure on both teams.
