Deco Clarifies Barcelona's Stance on Neymar's Return
The sporting director of FC Barcelona revealed the Catalan club's position regarding the return of Brazilian star Neymar Jr., currently at Santos, in the upcoming transfer market.
Deco stated in remarks to the media: "I admire Neymar; he is among the best players of the last 10-20 years. He is a phenomenon and still a great player, but his return is not only about the economic aspect."
He added: "The most important thing is for Neymar to be happy and enjoy football. I don't see a better place for him right now than Brazil, especially at his club Santos. I cheer for him and wish him happiness because the Brazilian national team needs him, and everyone who loves football wants to see Neymar happy."
He continued: "At the moment, we do not have clear plans regarding the next season. There are several things that need to be clear. Neymar has always been an important player, but building a football team requires balance and good planning."
He concluded: "Neymar was a phenomenon here, winning titles and achieving a lot, but sometimes stories do not repeat in the same way; however, they might repeat. No one knows."
He added: "At this moment, I don't think it's the right time for us to talk about Neymar's return, and I don't think Neymar is thinking about that either. I watch football and see him happy, and that is the most important thing for me."
