New Developments Regarding Ter Stegen's Injury and Return Date
Wednesday 05-03-2025
In the past few hours, there have been positive developments regarding the recovery of German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, and the approaching date of his return to Barcelona after a long absence due to injury.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Ter Stegen, who started training on the field two weeks ago, will undergo a final medical evaluation during the last week of March to assess his readiness to return to matches.

The German goalkeeper sustained a serious knee injury during the match between Barcelona and Villarreal last September, which required him to undergo surgery to treat a complete tear in the patellar tendon of his right knee. As a result, the club signed Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny to cover for his absence.

Ter Stegen feels significantly better and is undergoing regular check-ups under the supervision of the medical staff and the goalkeeping coach. Barcelona will not rush the player's return, as his condition will be evaluated at the end of March to determine whether he can participate in matches this season or wait until next season to ensure he returns in the best possible condition.

Barcelona is scheduled to face Benfica today, Wednesday, in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League at 10 PM Cairo time.
