The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Nigerian Samson Adamu as the Secretary General of the federation, officially taking on the role after serving temporarily since March 2026.

CAF has confirmed in an official statement that the executive committee approved the appointment of Adamo this week, following the completion of the selection process for the new official to oversee the General Secretariat of the federation.

For his part, Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football, explained that the decision came after a comprehensive recruitment process, which included widely advertising the position and interviewing several candidates before settling on Adamu.

The federation noted that Samson Adamu has taken on leadership roles during his time within the continental organization and contributed to the organization of several prominent African tournaments, most notably the Africa Cup of Nations, which is the most important tournament on the federation's agenda.
