Hossam Hassan Talks About the Loss to Nigeria
Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, spoke about the loss to Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Egyptian national team lost to the Nigerian national team 4-2 on penalties in the third-place playoff match of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Hassan said in a press conference after the match: "We did not let the Egyptian fans down in the tournament. We worked harder than expected, and we could have been in the final, but the small details made the difference in the semifinal."
He added: "We faced a strong team today with outstanding players and high technical skills. From my point of view, penalty shootouts are a matter of luck, and this is my opinion which wouldn't have changed even if our team had won."
He continued: "We lost several players in today's match, and the two others, Salah Mohsen and Marwan Atiya, were suspended yesterday after the technical briefing. After we agreed on everything during the technical briefing and the strategy, we were surprised by the suspension of the two players."
