Guinea Joins Race to Host Africa Cup of Nations
Guinea has officially submitted its bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2032 or 2036, a move that comes after years of having the 2025 edition taken away due to its inadequate infrastructure and sports facilities at that time.
Guinea's Sports Minister Silo Baldé has stated that the country is determined to win the honor of hosting the continental championship, noting that the Prime Minister has already signed the official submission letter on behalf of the Head of State, who has prioritized this bid as a national priority.
With Guinea officially entering the race for the hosting rights, the selection process is expected to be highly competitive. Their bid will face direct competition from the joint proposal of the Sahel countries (Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger), which have expressed a shared desire to host the 2032 edition.
Guinea is seeking to enhance its sports image through this bid, aiming to overcome the setback of losing the 2025 hosting rights. The Guinean government has made hosting this continental event a top national priority, and in the coming years, the country aims to build and modernize its stadiums, as well as comprehensively develop its infrastructure and logistical networks. This effort is intended to convince the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of its readiness and capability to host an exceptional tournament.
