Nigerian Star Reveals Details of His Conversation with Shobeir During Penalty Kick
Alex Iwobi, the Nigerian national team star, revealed details of his conversation with Mostafa Shobeir, the Egyptian national team goalkeeper, during the penalty shootout.
The Nigerian national team defeated the Egyptian national team 4-2 on penalties in the third-place playoff match of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Iwobi said in a video inside the Nigerian national team bus after the match: "Mostafa Shobeir tried to distract me before taking the decisive penalty kick. He said to me, 'Iwobi, I know where you’re going to shoot. If I save the penalty, will you give me your jersey?'"
He added, "I told him, 'Don't worry, I'll give you my shirt, my brother.' Then I scored and I was just laughing."
