Oliver Glasner furious after Nottingham Forest loss and warns players: change or leave!
Oliver Glasner, the Nottingham Forest manager, made angry remarks following his team's 2-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday in the 10th round of the Premier League. This defeat left the team second from bottom in the league table.
Glasner has expressed his strong dissatisfaction with the situation at the club, emphasizing that it is time for radical changes within the team. He pointed out that he will put an end to the concessions he has made since taking charge, and he issued a clear warning to the players about the necessity of adhering to the club's project, or else some of them may have to leave.
The Austrian coach said: "We have to accept that what is happening is not good enough. We have lost four out of the last five matches, and that is unacceptable. It is time to change things, and I will do that without any compromises. I will clarify to the players what we want to achieve and what we need to do, and if they are convinced by the project, we can turn the situation around; otherwise, a sixth coach will come in since the start of last season."
He added: "It is the same bad situation that the club experienced last season, and that is why we need change and to rebuild from the ground up. Either you commit to what we want to achieve as a club or you leave; there is no room for compromise."
Glasner expressed his dissatisfaction with some players' behavior, explaining that he rejected a request from one of them to return alone from London to Nottingham after the match, as he felt that such behavior was not appropriate given the situation the team is experiencing.
He continued: "If the team suffers from the same problems for three, four, or five seasons in the Premier League, there is a clear pattern that needs to change. We are being outmatched physically by our opponents in every match, and if we cannot change that, we need different players. If the club does not want to make these changes, it will need another coach. I am desperate for a change in the situation."
Brentford opened the scoring with an own goal by Nikola Milenković, before Igor Tiago added a second goal in the second half, giving the hosts the win and deepening Nottingham Forest's struggles in the Premier League.
