Glasner reveals details of his move to Nottingham: I didn't deceive anyone

Austrian coach Oliver Glasner confirmed that taking charge of Nottingham Forest was not initially part of his plans, explaining that his decision came after discussions that changed his perspective on the club and its sporting project, following the end of his successful stint with Crystal Palace.

Glasner said: "Sometimes unexpected things happen in life, and there was no plan for me to be the manager of Nottingham. I did not lie or deceive anyone, I have always been honest with everyone."

The Austrian coach revealed in previous statements that Nottingham contacted him several times, but he initially rejected the idea, especially since the team was not participating in European competitions, which was a priority for him after the successes he achieved in continental tournaments.

Glassner explained that his meeting with club owner Evangelos Marinakis was a turning point in his stance, noting that he was convinced of the greater potential within the team's lineup than what the results have shown, alongside the owner's ambitions and desire to build a project capable of constant competition.

He added that his goal is not limited to leading Nottingham Forest to European participation for just one season, but he seeks to build a team that maintains its presence among the competing clubs in Europe, in a new challenge for the manager who previously won the FA Cup with Crystal Palace in 2025, and then the UEFA Europa Conference League in May 2026.

Nottingham Forest announced the appointment of Glasner in July 2026, succeeding Portuguese coach Vítor Pereira, making him the fifth manager to take charge of the team in less than a year, amid hopes that his experience will help restore technical stability and achieve the club's ambitions in the upcoming seasons.
