Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos, is planning to collaborate with American businessman John Textor to acquire Brazilian club Botafogo amid ongoing legal disputes over the club's ownership and financial future, according to Sport Witness.

Tekstur has lost control of Eagle Football Holdings earlier this year, after the British holding company entered judicial administration following action from one of its main creditors in the United States. The company owned stakes in Botafogo and RWDM Brussels, and it sold its minority stake in Crystal Palace to Woody Johnson.

The ownership file of Botafogo has witnessed rapid developments, as club members moved in July to acquire a 51% stake, which reduced the stake of the Textrum Group to 49%. However, a court in Florida annulled this action in September, restoring Textrum's 90% stake in the club. Nevertheless, the dispute continues in Brazil, despite a court ruling in its favor in the United States.

In comments reported by "Fojaw Net", Ricardo Azambuja denied that Texter has taken any responsibility at the Portuguese club Rio Ave, explaining that he and Marinakis are patiently waiting to reach a solution to the Botafogo crisis, and that they are ready to acquire and fully finance the club.

He added that the continuation of legal obstacles may drive them to direct their investments towards other clubs, while not excluding a return to Botafogo in the future, considering that the social club may face collapse sooner or later.
