Zion Suzuki: A deal likely to be one of the best this season
The Telegraph highlights the impressive start of Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki with Aston Villa, considering him one of the standout signings of the season in the Premier League.
Zion Suzuki has joined Aston Villa from Parma during the summer transfer window for £30 million, replacing Argentine Emiliano Martínez, who left the team.
The newspaper pointed out that the 24-year-old Japanese goalkeeper resembles Brazilian Ederson, the former Manchester City keeper, in his style due to his great passing abilities and play-building from the back, which has provided coach Unai Emery with an additional weapon to develop the team's style.
The report revealed that Aston Villa have outperformed competition from several clubs to secure the services of Suzuki, including Paris Saint-Germain, who sent a private jet to Italy in an attempt to persuade him to join, but the Japanese goalkeeper made his decision in favor of a move to Villa Park.
Zion Suzuki has made a strong impression since his arrival, and he made history last September as the first Japanese goalkeeper to participate in the UEFA Champions League. His former coach at Parma, Nicola Bavarin, believes he has the potential to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
