Manchester United are targeting a move for Algerian Rayan Aït-Nouri, the Manchester City full-back, during the upcoming winter transfer window to strengthen the left-back position, amid uncertainty surrounding Luke Shaw's future, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

TEAMtalk reported that Manchester United attempted to sign Rayan Aït-Nouri in the closing days of the last summer transfer window, but the deal did not go through. The club remains interested in Lewis Hall, who renewed his contract with Newcastle in September.

Rayan Aït-Nouri, 25, is not having a good start at Manchester City under Enzo Maresca, as he has not participated in any Premier League matches this season, managing only 34 minutes in the UEFA Champions League.

According to "Africa Foot", Manchester United have returned to targeting the player and are considering bringing him in on loan in January. The Algerian full-back may contemplate a temporary departure in search of greater playing opportunities, having joined Manchester City from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2025 for £36.3 million, including add-ons.

Regarding Luke Shaw, TEAMtalk has clarified that Manchester United's management is open to renewing his contract and has already held discussions on the matter. However, the decision will depend on his readiness and the number of appearances he makes, as well as the possibility of him agreeing to a pay cut.
