Chelsea full-back enters Manchester City interest
Manchester City are preparing to move for Malo Gusto, Chelsea's right-back, in the upcoming winter transfer window if the London club lowers their financial demands, according to TEAMtalk.
Manchester City were interested in signing the French player, who is 23 years old, last summer, but Chelsea's demand of £70 million prevented the deal. This amount would have made Malo Gusto the most expensive right-back in history, surpassing Achraf Hakimi's transfer to Paris Saint-Germain for £57 million.
The site explained that Chelsea's financial demands have decreased since then, which could open the door for renewed negotiations in January, although Manchester City's plans may be affected by potential sanctions in their financial rules violations case.
Chelsea have several options at right-back, including Reece James, Marco Palestra, and Achim Pong, giving them flexibility in determining the future of Malo Gusto, who joined the team from Olympique Lyon in 2023.
Manchester City's move remains contingent on Chelsea lowering their financial demands and presenting a suitable offer to sign the player during the winter transfer window.
