Manchester United identifies target to strengthen left-back position in January
Manchester United have identified David Raum, the RB Leipzig left-back, as a key target to strengthen their left-back position during the upcoming winter transfer window, after the player expressed his willingness to move to Old Trafford, according to TEAMtalk.
Manchester United need to strengthen this position due to Patryck's injury, who is now viewed within the club as more of a winger than a defender, leaving Luke Shaw as the only primary option, despite his injury record.
The site pointed out that David Raum, who is 28 years old, has a contract that ends at the conclusion of the current season, which could assist Manchester United in finalizing the deal for a low amount in January, rather than waiting for him to leave for free.
David Raum is ahead of other options on Manchester United's list, including AFC Bournemouth's Adrien Truffert and FC Barcelona's Alejandro Balde.
Raum has significant international experience, having played 40 matches for the Germany national team, and he has provided 28 assists in all competitions over the past three seasons, in addition to captaining RB Leipzig.
The BBC reported that Manchester United officials have acknowledged that failing to sign a left-back and a striker last summer was a mistake, while Fabrizio Romano clarified that the club's movements in January will depend on the availability of suitable options and whether results improve.
