Sancho faces offer from Getafe with 96% pay cut to revive his career in Spain
Jadon Sancho has received an official offer from Getafe to join their ranks, potentially giving the former Manchester United winger a new opportunity to revive his career, but he will be required to accept a significant pay cut, according to TalkSport.
According to the report, Getafe have offered Jadon Sancho a salary of £10,000, compared to the weekly wage of £250,000 he was earning at Manchester United, representing a decrease of around 96%. The total value of the offer amounts to £335,000 until the end of June.
The 26-year-old player has expressed interest in experiencing La Liga and is not ruling out a move to Getafe, but he wants to meet the team's coach José Bordalás before making his final decision. This comes after Sancho became a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United at the end of last season, having spent the last season on loan at Aston Villa, after previous stints with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund.
There are still potential obstacles to completing the deal, given the restrictions imposed by La Liga on salary caps and player valuations. An independent committee determines the minimum acceptable salaries based on several factors, including age, career history, previous wages, and market value. Getafe has faced financial difficulties in meeting the conditions related to the signing of Dani Carvajal recently, raising questions about their ability to complete the Jadon Sancho deal, despite the offer made to the player.
