Génésio defends Maupay and confirms Amine Gouiri's readiness for Troyes clash

Bruno Génésio, the manager of Olympique Marseille, has defended his striker Neal Maupay amid a dip in form in recent times. He also revealed the latest updates on the condition of Algerian player Ameen Ghouiri ahead of the match against Troyes.

Olympique Marseille are set to face Troyes on Sunday in Ligue 1 as the team aims to regain their attacking effectiveness, with Maupay struggling to find his scoring touch.

Génésio stated during the press conference: "I talk to him as I regularly talk to the other players. This is an aspect he needed to develop, as he takes on a lot of things, but the responsibility remains collective. He is providing a lot of good things, and he is one of the most active players in the team, as well as having the technical quality needed to finish attacks, but he hasn't played much, so he needs confidence."

Olympique Marseille's coach added: "He needs to be more positive mentally, instead of believing that what is happening is his fault. It is the team's responsibility, and the coach bears the largest part of it. He has the potential to be a very good striker."

In a related context, Bruno confirmed Amine Gouiri's readiness to participate against Troyes, after he faced an issue during the international break, stating: "Gouiri has trained normally and will be ready for Sunday’s match," in an important boost for Olympique Marseille's attacking options ahead of the anticipated clash.
