Reports reveal reasons for Al-Hamlawi's failed transfer to Al Ahly FC
Reports have revealed the reasons behind Assad Al-Hamlawi's failed transfer from Universitatea Craiova to Al Ahly FC during last summer's transfer window.
Assad Al-Hamlawi has been linked with a move to Al Ahly FC during last summer's transfer window, but the deal ultimately did not go through, as the Red Devils opted to sign the duo, Moncef Bakar and Soufiane Benjdida.
Romanian newspaper Sport has reported that Assad Al-Hamlawi has attracted the interest of Getafe following his performance in the match that ended in a 1-1 draw against Universitatea Craiova in the UEFA Europa Conference League, where he succeeded in scoring his team's goal.
According to the report, Getafe are keeping a close eye on the player to monitor his development in the upcoming continental competitions, paving the way for a potential move in the winter transfer window if he manages to impress the coaching staff with his abilities.
José Bordalás, the manager of Getafe, praised the potential of Palestinian striker Assad Al-Hamlawi, stating in comments after the match: "In my opinion, Al-Hamlawi has all the qualities needed to play in LaLiga."
The Spanish coach added: "He is a complete and exceptional football player, and based on what I have seen, I am convinced that if he moves to LaLiga, he will be able to adapt to it with complete ease."
Sport newspaper confirmed that Assad Al-Hamlawi was a prominent target for several Arab clubs, as he was strongly considered by Al Ahly FC in the last summer transfer window. However, the financial demands of his Romanian club, which asked for 5 million euros, prevented the deal from being completed.
It was reported: "In addition to the transfer fee demanded by Universitatea Craiova, the player's financial demands (salary) posed an additional obstacle at that time that prevented his move to Al Ahly FC."
