Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, has sharply criticized his players following the heavy defeat against Como, losing 4-1 this evening in the UEFA Champions League. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the team's performance and questioned the level of commitment shown by the players during the match.

Karik expressed his anger during the press conference after the match, apologizing again to the fans for the performance. He confirmed that the problem was not limited to the four goals his team conceded, but extended to the way the players played.

He said: "We may win or lose, but the way we handled the match tonight was not acceptable, and I don't mean everyone, but some aspects of our performance. I just wanted the fans to know that I definitely feel their suffering."

The English coach added: "Honestly, the problem wasn't just with the goals, but with our style of play and the way we handled the match at certain times, and that was difficult for me to watch."

Carrick has responded to the criticisms made by team captain Bruno Fernandes regarding the team's tactical organization, after the player expressed his reservations about the pressing style adopted by the coaching staff. The coach defended his choices, stating that the main issue was not the plan itself but rather the players' failure to put in the required effort on the pitch.

Carrick said: "In the second half, we relied on a half-individual press, and then we conceded a goal through that approach. But whatever system or tactical style you play with, you won't win if you don't run, move forward, and track back."

When asked whether the players are still fighting for him, Carrick refused to frame the issue in terms of his personal relationship with the team members, emphasizing that the primary responsibility lies with everyone towards the club and its fans.

He explained: "It's not about playing for myself, but playing for this club. There is a responsibility that comes with my position; I am responsible for the club and its fans. I always give my best, and I care about this club, as my whole life is connected to it, and I give everything I can give."

When asked if the players are putting in the same amount of effort, he replied: "I would like to think so, but I didn't like what I saw tonight."

Manchester United were trailing at half-time, having gone down by a goal to nil. Michael Carrick made two substitutions during the break in an attempt to change the course of the match, but the changes failed to stop the team's collapse in the second half. Joshua Zirkzee scored a late goal, but it was not enough to avoid a 4-1 defeat.

After the final whistle, Carrick went to the stands to apologise to Manchester United fans for the result and performance, expressing his anger at the level his players displayed. It was a night that raised new questions about the team's performance and its future under his leadership.
