Chelsea target Como star, Real Madrid stands in the way of completing the deal
Chelsea are continuing their efforts to strengthen their squad under Spanish coach Xabi Alonso after starting the season positively, sitting in fourth place in the Premier League table following their recent victory over Everton.
According to the Italian site "Tutto Mercato Web", Chelsea are keeping an eye on the situation of Argentine Nico Paz, the attacking midfielder for Como, given the impressive levels the player is showing under the management of Cesc Fàbregas.
The report indicated that Chelsea scouts followed the player during Como's match against Feyenoord in Rotterdam, as well as the team's game against ACF Fiorentina in the Premier League, as part of an ongoing assessment of his potential and suitability for the London club's project.
However, Chelsea's task will not be easy, as Real Madrid retains a clause that allows them to re-sign the player, who progressed through the academy of the royal club before moving to Como in 2024, giving the Spanish team an advantage in the race to reclaim him.
According to the report, Real Madrid has a buy-back clause for Nico Paz worth €80 million in the summer of 2027, while Como may ask for between €100 million and €120 million to agree to sell him outside the agreement with the Spanish club.
This situation puts Chelsea in front of a significant financial and competitive challenge if they decide to turn their interest in the player into formal negotiations, especially since Real Madrid has an advantage linked to their previous contract with the player.
Chelsea are still in the monitoring and exploration phase regarding potential signings, with no reports of a formal offer or direct negotiations with Como. However, the club's interest reflects its ongoing efforts to combine the acquisition of promising talents with strengthening the team with players capable of making an impact.
