Marisca: Beating Paris requires a perfect match, and that makes me happiest
Enzo Maresca, Manchester City's manager, stated that his team needs to deliver a perfect match to overcome Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning UEFA Champions League champions, while emphasizing that his players have the ability to win if they perform at their best.
Mariska stated in the press conference before the match: "The message before tomorrow's game is very simple, we need to deliver a perfect match, because they are the best team in Europe at the moment."
He added: "They have won the UEFA Champions League in the past two seasons, which shows how good they are."
He added: "We need a perfect match, but at the same time, if we give our best, we can win against them."
Regarding the gap between Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain at the moment, he said: "I think we are definitely a good team, and I have no doubts about that, but as for our position compared to Paris Saint-Germain, I honestly don't know."
He added: "I know how strong they are, having won the UEFA Champions League in the last two seasons, which shows their quality. I'm not sure how close we are to them or how far away, but we are definitely a good team."
Mariska said: "We definitely need to improve many things, both in the way we try to attack and defend, and there is no doubt that we need to develop."
He added: "So far in our journey, we have won 7 out of 8 consecutive matches, and each one has been different from the other."
He continued: "The last match at Anfield was different from the rest of the matches. We faced encounters where we were trailing 1-0, like the match against AFC Bournemouth which we managed to win, and we also played against Manchester United with ten players."
He explained: "All the matches were different, but winning remains the most important thing in our work."
Mariska concluded his statements by saying: "But what really makes me happy are the things I see from the players day after day."
