Luis Enrique, the Spanish manager of Paris Saint-Germain, has unveiled the key aspects of his style in dealing with players, emphasizing that he prefers to help them understand the flow of the game and make decisions on their own, rather than just providing them with continuous instructions.

Luis Enrique spoke in an interview published by the Parisian club on its official channel today, Monday, about his special relationship with Paris Saint-Germain and its fans since taking charge of the team in the summer of 2023. He also touched on his coaching philosophy and his approach to communicating with players and developing their performance.

The Spanish coach said: "I don't want to be a coach who keeps giving orders and telling players: you have to do this, then this, then this. They need to understand the game so they can make the best decision at every moment. This is the key point."

He added: "They must also be able to provide solutions and deal with the different situations they face. It is not solely the coach's responsibility to make all the decisions; we all move forward together."

Luis Enrique explained that he enjoys building a relationship based on interaction and challenge with his players, stating: "I love this relationship. I love helping the players, but I also love challenging them and pushing them to respond, observing their reactions to what I tell them, and seeing whether it leads to a positive or negative outcome."

He continued: "Every player needs a different approach when talking to them, depending on the circumstances. Some need encouragement, while others require a more stern message. I try to find the best way to communicate with each player. This is incredibly enjoyable, and it’s what I love about my job. Everything is constantly evolving, as is our team, which remains in a state of constant motion."

Luis Enrique's comments come after Paris Saint-Germain regained their balance in Ligue 1, achieving three consecutive victories following a start where they did not know the taste of victory in the first three rounds. The latest of these victories was a 3-1 win over Le Mans last Saturday at the Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to face Manchester City in the second round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, in a new test for Enrique's men, who are looking to continue their positive results.
