Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool's captain, stated that the sending off of one of his teammates was a turning point in the match against Manchester City, which ended in a three-goal defeat for the Reds. He noted that his team performed well in the first half before their task became more difficult due to the numerical disadvantage.

Virgil van Dijk said after the match: "The first half was good from our side, we showed sharpness in our performance, and we could have done better in some situations when we launched counter-attacks. They weren't very dangerous chances, but we showed our desire to win, and we delivered a performance that was sharp, and that is the minimum required."

Liverpool's captain added: "The red card changed the course of the match in the second half, especially when we conceded a quick goal afterwards. We ended up playing with ten men, and that is the truth. Then we conceded another quick goal, and the match became difficult again."

Virgil van Dijk spoke about the atmosphere at Anfield, saying: "I think the atmosphere here is always good, and I have been lucky to participate in many big matches at this stadium."

He concluded his statements by saying: "Perhaps it was different for other players, but I was ready to compete, and I think we showed that, especially in the first half."
