Haaland: It was a great moment, and we have to prepare for what is coming
Norwegian striker Erling Haaland of Manchester City expressed his happiness at the 3-0 win over Liverpool, stating that the victory represents a special moment that will remain etched in the minds of all club members and its fans for a long time.
Erling Haaland said in statements to Sky Sports: "This is a fantastic moment for everyone at Manchester City and for every fan, and it will stay with us for a long time. The match was tough and demanding, but we showed great character from back to front, and I am extremely proud of everyone."
Norwegian striker added that playing at Liverpool's ground remains a tough challenge: "It's always difficult to come here, and if you look at the record of encounters, you'll realize how hard it is. During the tenures of Guardiola and Klopp, the matches have been tough for both teams, and that's always the case."
Manchester City star stressed the importance of maintaining mental cohesion and teamwork in big matches, saying: "It is important that we maintain our mental strength, stay united, and focus on the things we can control."
Speaking about his teammate Elliot Anderson, he said: "When I talk about showing strong character while playing with ten men at 'Old Trafford', the first name that comes to my mind is Elliot. Today as well, he took charge of the match; he engaged in challenges strongly and performed the tasks required of us. He is a good player."
Reflecting on his goal, he said: "I missed a clear chance just before that, so I had to focus to get another opportunity. When the chance came, I took it. I am proud to have scored three goals at 'Anfield' because that doesn't happen often."
Regarding his father's joy, Alf-Inge, among the fans, he said: "I didn't see him, even though I was looking for him. Honestly, it looked like they were having a great time, just like last year. I think he enjoyed his time, so I will send him a message now."
"The matter is very simple: you want to win matches. You have to perform well, play good football, and achieve victory. It has been a mental battle; it is never easy to return to competition after an international break. I am proud of our ability to stay strong, as we have mental resilience. Many matches await us, so it is time to recover and prepare for the next phase."
